The privately-owned, not-for-profit organization provides care to a largely rural population. A comfortable, healthy environment with qualified staff who place an equal emphasis on mind, body and spirit defines the care at Valley Health Services.
Long-term, Skilled Nursing Care
Our skilled nursing level of care allows Valley Health Services to care for the most complex cases. We are a clinically skilled facility that offers intravenous (IV) therapy and specialized wound and skin therapies. Residents participate in occupational, physical and speech therapies when needed and have access to the on-site beauty salon/barber shop, daily leisure activities and outings, and the expertise of the social services staff.
Helping our residents maintain or improve functioning on all levels - physical, psychological and social - through rehabilitation is the goal of our staff. Occupational, physical and speech rehabilitation are available to our residents. Valley Health Services has full-time rehabilitative staff to provide daily physical, occupational and speech therapies for our residents.
In addition, ancillary services including dental, podiatry, pharmacy, radiology and Hospice Care are part of the unique level of care found at Valley Health Services.
Short-term Inpatient Rehabilitation and Subacute Care
Valley Health Services offers a short-term rehabilitation and subacute care unit for those recovering from orthopedic surgery, a stroke, heart surgery or other condition that necessitates specialized therapy. The goal of the short-term resident is to return to independent living at home.
Most short-term residents come to Valley Health Services upon discharge from a hospital in order to regain strength or motor skills before going home. A unique feature of our program is the ability to provide intravenous and would vac therapies when required.
Our goal is to provide an individualized treatment plan designed to restore independence or maximize the highest level of function in the shortest possible time. Short-term residents receive all the benefits of our long-term care program including access to the beauty salon/barber shop, daily leisure activities, physical, occupational, and speech therapies, dietary consultation and the expertise of our social services staff.
All care is coordinated by the residents' personal physicians and provided by nursing professionals under the direction of a certified rehabilitation nurse specifically educated to meet the needs of short-term residents.
Residents and family members are welcome to visit the Community Resource Room located in the rehabilitation department to learn about physical conditions and techniques used for treatment.

Adult Day Health Care
One of the most rapidly growing needs is that of Adult Day Health Care. The Adult Day Health Care program at Valley Health Services provides nursing, health care and social services to area seniors. We recognize that many adults do not require 24-hour nursing home care and have designed our program to help these adults and their families.
Under the direction of the personal physician and our on-site medical director, an individual program is designed for each adult to maintain or improve current levels of wellness and functional ability. Our staff will coordinate services with community social service organizations and other health care agencies in order to allow the Adult Day Health Care registrant to remain living at home.
Valley Health Services offers the following services under the direction of the registrant's personal physician as stated in the individualized care plan:
· Nutritional Services

Palliative Care
Serious or terminal illness is often devastating for the patient and his/her family. It is frequently confusing to find the necessary assistance to keep the patient living at home. The staff of Valley Health Services’ Palliative Care Center informs the patient and family of the availability of community services able to provide the necessary care and equipment required to maintain an independent lifestyle as long as possible. Our staff coordinates these services and assists the patient and family in achieving the desired quality of life.
The Palliative Care Center offers inpatient care when remaining at home is no longer viable. Patients receive specialized palliative care including pain and symptom management, massage therapy, therapeutic music, lymphedema management, relaxation therapy, phychosocial care and hospice care when desired. Individual quality of life is at the core of the Palliative Care Center’s mission.
Private, home-like rooms offer comfort to the patient and family. Staff is specially educated to address the emotional, physical and spiritual care needed by the patient and family. Pastoral care and volunteer support complement the program.
Pain and symptom management are crucial to the patient's comfort and the ability of the family to interact with the patient. Staff places physical comfort as a top priority to the patient's care. Patients whose conditions warrant, may find therapeutic value to physical, occupational or speech therapy and leisure time activities.
Cardiac Rehabilitation (315) 866-3330 x149
Since February 2002, the outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program has assisted patients recovering from heart attacks, angioplasty, heart surgery, and those at high risk for cardiac disease. In 2004, the program received certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. It is the goal of our staff to work with the patient in achieving his or her highest level of physical function.
Each patient is thoroughly evaluated and placed on an individualized prescription program for exercise that is designed to strengthen the heart.
Our state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring system ensures that the patient's vital signs are continually being assessed as the exercise equipment is being used. Proper nutrition and understanding the need for healthy eating habits are essential for cardiac health. Our dietitian meets with each patient and his family to provide information, answer questions and discuss concerns.
Our staff works with each patient and his family toward achieving a healthy lifestyle. The Community Resource Room houses many pamphlets and materials to aid in the education of successful cardiac rehabilitation.
