Roscoe Community Nursing Home and Adult Day Health Services - located 15 minutes from Liberty New York - is a good place to call home. We strive to provide a caring and homelike environment in everything we do. At Roscoe, residents feel comfortable and families know their loved ones are receiving the best quality care possible.
We meet the need for:
• Residents who need long term care with access to skilled nursing
• Adult Day Health Services for persons with chronic diseases who need medical care
• A short-term residence complete with therapeutic rehabilitation services
• Respite services for family caregivers who need a break from intensive caregiving
We are a non-profit, 85-bed facility that is both Medicare and Medicaid certified. Roscoe also welcomes private-pay residents and some private insurance.
SERVICES
Short-term rehabilitation
This is a preferred option for people who are recovering from surgery or a stroke and who need therapy and aggressive rehabilitation services during a short-term residence before returning home. Our therapy department tailors rehabilitation for an individual’s particular needs and delivers quality, on-site services to speed recovery and to promote the highest level of functioning.
Long-term residency
Many of our long-term residents find that their quality-of-life improves after a move to Roscoe. Social interaction with others, healthful meals prepared with the direction of our staff dietitian and ready access to medical care maximize quality-of-life. In addition, the ability to go on day-trips into the community for movies, recreation or just a pleasant drive in the country can make all the difference!
Adult day health care
Those who attend Roscoe’s Adult Day Health Services program benefit from socializing with others and enjoy their time with us. Caregivers benefit by getting a break from care-giving duties while knowing that a loved one is in good hands. All of the activities provided for long-term residents such as coffee hour, arts and crafts, games, movies and exercise are available to day health participants. Medical management and meals are provided.
Any adult with a chronic condition including sensory impairments, memory loss and confusion is welcome to join us. Transportation usually can be arranged. The program operates from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Private pay and Medicaid cover the program but Medicare does not.
Respite care
Caregivers who need a break can select respite care from one to 30 days. This break can benefit the primary caregiver’s emotional, mental and physical health. No one can provide care 24/7 for weeks and months without some personal time.
The same services are available for short-term rehabilitation and respite care residents as those that are available for long-term residents, including medical management.
NEW RESIDENTS
At Roscoe we like to say, “Our residents don’t live in a facility; we work in their home.†Our staff is committed to maximizing quality-of-life in a homelike and comfortable atmosphere. Coming to stay at Roscoe is a change that brings many benefits:
- Meals
Meals are planned by our certified dietitian in accordance with each resident’s needs and physician orders. (Kosher meal packs are available.) Residents can always choose an alternative meal if they don’t prefer the lunch or dinner that will be served. Family members and friends are welcome to purchase guest meals for a nominal fee.
- Socializing
In addition to many recreational activities during the day we provide evening activities some nights of the week. Examples of regular activities include exercise programs, arts and crafts, movies, coffee hour, birthday celebrations and outings to shop, see movies or to enjoy a scenic day trip.
- Religious services
Non-denominational services are offered weekly as well as group services and the celebration of Catholic Mass.
- Home decorating
Each resident is encouraged to personalize his or her part of each room with their own furniture, framed pictures and knick-knacks.
- Transportation
Staff is available to coordinate transportation to outside consultation. Transportation is generally done through Unity Ambulette, Circle of Life, or Mobile Medic.
- Laundry
Bulk laundry services are provided free of charge. Linens service is also provided.
- Phone service
Residents can use the facility phone upon request. If a private telephone is desired, family members can install one and arrange for private billing.
- Visitors
Visiting time at Roscoe is any time. We maintain open visiting hours seven days a week around-the-clock. We love to welcome family and friends!
