The Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was opened in 1975 as part of the mission of the Brothers of Mercy to provide exceptional care to the sick and elderly in an atmosphere of dignity and compassion. Through the years, the number and focus of programs and services at the center have increased, but the core of caring has remained unchanged.
Nearly 450 full- and part-time employees work as an integrated team to provide the best possible health care while never forgetting that this building truly is our residents’ home. The emphasis is on the individual resident and his/her unique personality and needs. There are 240-beds in the center; 180 are dedicated to long-term nursing care, 60 are dedicated to sub-acute short-term rehabilitation. The second and third floors are home to our nursing residents. Freshly painted and decorated with pastel wallpaper, coordinating borders and oak furniture, the private and semi-private rooms are comfortable and cheerful. Personal touches make each room even more home-like. Each room has its own lavatory and coordinating closet and storage unit. Free hook-up to our satellite dish and in-house special movies and programs is provided.
The building is situated on 120 beautiful acres of rolling lawns, shady trees and tended flower beds. Our residents also add a spot of color as they cultivate favorite blooms in wheelchair height flower boxes. Our property adjoins the Clarence Town Park and many of the birds and animals that live there also visit our yard. It's not unusual to see deer nibbling on the lawn or squirrels scrambling up the trees. Because we are also located within a half mile of the Tillman Wildlife Refuge, we are also frequently visited by Canada geese, ducks, hawks, owls and, on occasion, wild turkeys!
Our nursing staff meets rigorous educational and professional requirements to provide the best possible care and service for every patient. Our nurses offer an exceptional combination of skill and genuine compassion.
