The Orzac Center for Extended Care & Rehabilitation opened on January 16, 1989 as a 120 bed long-term care facility. We have been providing loving, dignified skilled care to our residents for over 15 years and we are committed to maintaining a quality of life for them and their families. Five years later we opened the Adult Day Healthcare Program to provide care to the frail elderly, while maintaining them in their community home.
The two programs complemented Franklin Hospital's other two major services: the 305 bed acute hospital and the Home Health Agency which provided services under the auspices of two programs; the Home Care Program and the Lombardi Program "Nursing Home without Walls". Over the next ten years, we provided care to thousands of local residents who required either residential skilled care or medical care with socialization on an outpatient basis.
Our philosophy is to maintain the resident at their highest functioning capacity. Every day our residents are encouraged to get all they can from life. They are challenged to do all they can, while given warm, professional assistance with those things they can't. Our friendly, caring staff is specially trained in long term, short term rehabilitation and hospice care. Our program provides assistance with day-to-day living needs, as well as fun stimulating activities, nutritious meals and plenty of personal attention. Best of all, it's available in a supportive, "neighborhood" community setting that's safe and secure, with 24 hour monitoring by a licensed nurse. Our staff is committed to helping those who have done so much for others - and making sure that their needs and wants are never forgotten.
Our home-like setting includes a large living-room like lobby with skylights and a full glass front and rear walls overlooking the patio and front gardens. A player piano is available for families either to listen to during their visit or to utilize for entertaining family members on special occasions. Our Activities Department Art Therapist has found the many talents of our elderly population. Many of their three-dimensional award-winning artwork is hung throughout the building, again adding the personal touch and warmth of a family-like setting.
