Northwoods at Hilltop

Northwoods at Hilltop offers up to three hours of physical, occupational and speech therapy services per day up to seven days per week. The therapy times are flexible and increase with stability, allowing the appropriate time for the healing process and improving rehabilitation outcomes. The services provided vary per patient.

Northwoods at Hilltop offers services that are one of their kind throughout the region and New York State. The following services are provided:

Stepping Stones Pediatric Rehabilitation:

-36 bed rehabilitation / 24-hour skilled nursing facility serving children and infants through age 18

-One of the few dedicated inpatient pediatric rehabilitation centers in New York State

-Certified Pediatric Advanced Life Support registered nursing and respiratory therapy staff

-Dedicated physical, occupational and speech therapists

-School re-entry services

-Visiting pediatric physicians from the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center



Pediatric Respite Services:

-Planned or emergency short-term stays designed for children with medical complexities or disabilities

-Stays can last a few days, weeks or a month at a time: up to 42 days per year

-Home-like setting with professional pediatric staff

-Specialized therapy services are available if needed and prescribed

Ventilator / Respiratory Program (for both pediatrics and adults):

-24-hour, 7 day a week respiratory therapists with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications

-Space Labs Monitoring System for continuous monitoring of respiration and heart rate

Traumatic Brain Injury Comprehensive Rehabilitation:

-Stroke rehabilitation

-Community re-entry groups

-Cognitive intervention therapies: groups specialize in daily interventions that enhance orientation, social skills and awareness of environment

-Ability to care for patients with additional medically-complex needs


Short-Term Recovery Care:

-Physical, occupational and speech therapy

-IV therapy services

-Recreation therapies

-Residential and comforting environment

-Pain management

-Tracheotomy care

-Orthopedic rehabilitation

Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team to maximize each individual's potential for functional recovery.
