Long Term Care
Since opening its doors to the public in 1971, The Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has embodied the spirit and foresight of its founders by delivering quality programs and services in an environment steeped with home-like qualities. Maintaining 140 private and 30 semi-private rooms, the residents of the Margaret Tietz Center are cared for by a professional and non-professional staff of over 380.
We employ highly trained, experienced and dedicated nursing staff around the clock. All personnel are informed of the clinical needs of each resident with a concentration in specific or unusual disabilities, or emotional needs that may accompany each individual. Continuous education and training focuses on creative approaches to health care and assists the staff in recognizing potential for change in a resident's condition. The consideration of a resident's health and well-being is our utmost priority.
Short Term Rehabilitation
The Margaret Tietz Short -Term Rehabilitation Program assists all individuals in attaining their maximum functional capacity. Our goal is to integrate the patient back into the community with the ability to function at his/her highest level of independence. Our multi-disciplinary Short -Term Rehabilitation Team, in conjunction with the patient and their family, develops an individualized plan of care, to be implemented upon admission to the program.
Hospice/ Palliative Care
At The Margaret Tietz Center of Excellence for Inpatient Hospice Care, you will find a specialized unit dedicated to the provision of quality care for Hospice Patients. Our Comfort Care Inpatient Unit was designed solely with the Hospice Patient and their family in mind.
In an effort to provide compassionate health services the Margaret Tietz Center has recognized the need for programs that focus on the individuals quality of life. The inpatient Palliative Care Program was developed to serve individuals who did not meet the criteria for the Inpatient Hospice Unit. Through the palliation of underlying symptoms the goal of this program is to elevate an individual to their optimum functioning capacity, assisting residents and family’s to live their life with dignity and meaning.

Adult Day Health Care
Located in its own special setting, our Medical Model Adult Day Health Care Program offers an ethnically diverse senior population quality medical, social, nutritional and rehabilitative care on a daily basis. We provide the highest level of care in a warm and nurturing environment while meeting essential quality services in a setting that welcomes participants of any race, religion, sex or national origin.
Door-to-door transportation in wheelchair accessible vans allows
participants with conditions such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Multiple
Sclerosis, Stroke, Osteoarthritis, Muscular Dystrophy, Head Trauma,
Parkinson’s Disease, and other ailments to remain and function in the
community for an extended period of time. When not involved in a
medical regimen, the participants can involve themselves in a variety
of recreational and social activities.
Skyline Commons
The Margaret Tietz Center continues its proud tradition of care and service through the sponsorship of Skyline Commons, a new, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Jamaica Queens. When completed, Skyline Commons will offer 143 luxurious independent living apartments ranging from studio to two-bedroom styles complemented by an array of services and amenities. Residents will be able to enjoy a carefree retirement knowing that should their health status change for any reason, quality long-term care is available on-site with Enriched Housing (Assisted Living) and Skilled Nursing.
Future residents will be able to enjoy an all-inclusive retirement lifestyle at Skyline Commons and still stay close to everything that’s important to them…family, friends, and all that Queens and Manhattan have to offer.
