Kinney Nursing Home Philosophy:
Each Resident is a unique individual who presents to our facility with a past, a present, and a future. The Resident has ties to friends, family members and community individuals that need to be fostered and continued. The Kinney Nursing Home is a new home for each Resident and all employees need to remember:

Holistic care can not be intuitive; it is learned through education. The Kinney Nursing Home Administrative Staff supports the mission and philosophy by providing on-going education to our employees, Residents and family members.

Communication is the single most important component in developing a sound relationship with the Residents and their family members. It means listening to the Resident and family and accepting their opinions as worth while and deserving of consideration in planning for their care. Each Resident and their family members play a key role in designing and implementing the comprehensive care plan with the interdisciplinary team.

Each Resident's privacy and confidentiality are respected by all employees within the facility. Along with respect is an understanding that the aging process does not cause diminished hope. All employees, while providing care and services, must remember they are guests in the Resident's home and must offer the same respect and dignity as any visitor.

Each Resident is allowed the opportunity to remain as independent as possible, choosing elements of their care: clothing, hair style, food and participation in the day to day activities of their lives. Each Resident is a member of the Resident Council and therefore has the opportunity to recommend changes, voice complaints and have input into the planning activities for themselves and others.

Although the Kinney Nursing Home will not be like the Resident's own home, our goal is for the Resident to remain the unique individual that entered the Kinney Nursing Home entrusting us with his/her care.

Kinney Nursing Mission Statement:
The Kinney Nursing Home is entrusted with the care of individuals who require assistance with various aspects of daily living. Our Mission is to provide care that is appropriate to each individual's needs in a clinically competent, dignified and caring manner. The Kinney Nursing Home must address clinical needs and interventions as well as psychosocial needs and interventions in order to optimize each individual's quality of life. A comprehensive interdisciplinary plan of care coupled with the principles of the Kinney Nursing Home Philosophy form the basis for the provision of individualized, quality care.

PERSONAL CLOTHING:
Residents are expected to dress in daytime attire. We recommend a minimum of three changes of comfortable, machine washable clothing. Shoes should fit properly and have non-skid soles. Light jackets/sweaters are recommended. Please label all personal clothing with printed labels or permanent marking pen. Items that are not washable or require dry cleaning are the responsibility of the Resident or family.
