To assist each resident in living as fully as possible by assisting him/her to function to the best of their ability-physically, socially, and emotionally and to maintain a quality of life enabling him/her to continue to be a part of society.
The Genesee County Nursing Home was established in 1945. We are a multi-level non-for-profit community based Residential Health Care Facility consisting of 160 beds and an Adult Home consisting of 80 beds. The facility is comprised of a Memory Care Unit, three long-term care floors, a short-term rehab. Unit, an Adult Day Health Care Center, Child Care Center, and the Adult Home including a Special Care Community Dementia Unit. We are licensed by the New York State Health Department and accept Medicare, Medicaid, and major insurances.
The Genesee County Nursing Home is located in Batavia, a half-way point between Rochester and Buffalo. The community is conveniently located close to specialty shops, churches, professional offices and several medical facilities.

Memory Care Unit
The Memory Care Unit is a skilled nursing unit for individuals afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease or related disorders causing memory impairments. It is a 28 bed secured unit. This unit provides added security and enhanced programming and staffing. A private patio area is adjoined to the unit offering residents the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in a safe and secured environment. The program includes cognitive and physical activities of daily living, as well as psycho-social and self-expression components. The unit offers a structured format while allowing flexibility to accommodate the attention span of residents. The format is designed to reduce agitation and increase participation and social interaction.
Rehabilitation Unit
(Transitional Living Center)
Our short-term rehab unit, known as the Transitional Living Center, was designed with the needs of the community members in mind. Our population is living longer and eager to remain as independent as possible. Our twelve-bed unit is beautifully decorated containing therapy clinics (Physical, Occupational and Speech), a dining room, and private rooms with TV/VCR, telephone and bathroom all on a quiet and separate unit.
The team of nurses and therapists will individualize your plan of care to regain independence, confidence, and a safe return to your home. You can expect expert care with a homelike atmosphere.
Genesee County Adult Home/Domiciliary and Special Care Community Dementia Unit
The Genesee County Adult Home (also referred to as "The Domiciliary") is a New York State licensed home offering housing for adults of all ages that provides shared rooms, meals, medication assistance, housekeeping, laundry / linen service, social activities, some personal care and 24-hour supervision to 80 adults. This housing is licensed and regulated by the New York State Health Department. Our program is based on our mission of fostering a home-like, family atmosphere while providing resident-focused, individualized care in the most appropriate setting utilizing extensive input from the resident, the family, staff, and physician.
Within the 80 bed adult home is the 40 bed secured Special Care Community Dementia Unit whose mission statement is as follows: This household is secured to provide monitoring while promoting unique wandering paths. The household will have activity programs seven days a week. The household promotes less stressful stimuli and common areas where the furnishings will be kept in familiar settings to promote recognition of surroundings. We have specially trained staff who will provide a supportive and enriched environment. The Special Care Unit will promote the self worth of the dementia residents and will provide choice and control over their daily lives.
