Elant at Wappingers Falls is a 62-bed skilled residential facility conveniently located in the heart of the Village of Wappingers Falls, New York. It is situated in a historic building that has been part of the community for many years. The home has been providing high quality residential short-term and long-term care to the people of our community since 1968 and much of our staff has been here since the beginning. They bring with them knowledge and experience, as well as a reputation for warm, compassionate care for all of our residents.

Daily Living

The simplest activities of daily living, such as getting dressed, can seem impossible to someone who has suffered a stroke, fracture, or other disability.

At Elant at Wappingers Falls, we have a group of comprehensive rehabilitative programs designed to help people recover their abilities to the fullest possible extent. The sunny and spacious rehabilitation clinic houses an array of equipment for physical, occupational, and speech therapies. The rehabilitation team evaluates and treats residents through the process of increasing independence. Skilled therapists work intensively, using a variety of techniques and equipment to strengthen and flex the body, re-teach basic life skills and restore maximum independence. An individual rehabilitation program is designed for each person's care.

The care continuum can follow the steps of a person's therapeutic needs and progress from the residential setting, to therapy at home or at our outpatient clinic when appropriate.

Activities

Therapeutic activities promote residents' independence and individuality through meaningful leisure time activities. These activities take into account past interests and lifestyles while providing opportunities to make choices. At Elant at Wappingers Falls, we believe that our residents are unique individuals with a rich history of their own to share. By continuing past life experiences we can further independence, stimulate memories and encourage learning and enjoyment.

Activities include social, intellectual, creative, physical and spiritual programs that promote the highest quality of life and independence. Residents participate in cooking projects, music therapy, pet visits, assist in gardening and flower arranging, go shopping or to baseball games and much more. The resident chaplain arranges clergy visits and services throughout the week to support different faiths. Massage therapy is available as well. With our center's van, community outings are regularly scheduled.

Special Attention

With only 62 beds at Elant at Wappingers Falls, the medical director and director of health services can pay close attention to the needs of our residents. We pay special attention to wound care, pain management, palliative care and ensuring that the best services are offered to meet individual plans of care and therapeutic meals.

In addition, Elant at Wappingers Falls subscribes to Companion Radio, a unique, commercial free group of radio programs that target senior citizensâ€™ interests and music. The Green Hornet, Frank Sinatra or Burns and Allen can be heard in every room, and there is a vast schedule of programs from which to choose.

The small size of Elant at Wappingers Falls enables the staff to truly know each resident, their families and their needs.
