SHORT & LONG-TERM RESIDENTIAL CARE
Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home is part of the Nathan Littauer Hospital campus located in Gloversville. It is a short and long-term, residential health care facility that provides skilled nursing care in an atmosphere of respect and concern for each individual resident.
The Nursing Home was opened in 1972 and is operated by Nathan Littauer Hospital, a voluntary, not-for-profit corporation.
Our facility serves 84 men and women who require individualized care and skilled nursing services. Single and double-bed rooms are available, each with a private bathroom.
SERVICES
Residents have access to medical, dental, podiatric and rehabilitation services. Attending physicians provide on-site diagnoses and treatment. Consultations with medical specialists are also arranged when indicated. If hospitalization is necessary, it is provided under a transfer agreement at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Other hospitals may be used as appropriate
Nursing Services
Skilled nursing services are provided to each resident as determined by his or her medical condition. The facility provides for the total needs of the residents, as well as skilled respiratory care treatments, wound care, intravenous fluids and medication management.
Rehabilitative Services
The Rehabilitation Services Department operates five days a week utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to deliver quality services to residents for short (2 weeks – 2 months) or long-term stays. Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy are coordinated and oriented to return the resident to his or her maximum physical potential. Resident needs are met by our professional staff as determined by the physician. Residents will be taught to safely carry out all necessary daily functions in an effort to maximize their independence and prepare them for a return to home or another appropriate setting. The department’s simulation of a home environment serves to ease the transition from our facility to a home setting.
Other Services
Our Social Service staff offers individual consultation and counseling. The interdisciplinary team will work with the resident and family to develop the plan of care.
When discharge plans are appropriate the team will assist in the transition to home or another appropriate setting.
Recreation
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of a variety of stimulating activities offered throughout the day, evenings and on weekends. Our recreation program includes special events, music, games, socials and entertainment. In addition, we plan special community outings with our van, intergenerational activities, and pet therapy. Since 1991, our Intergenerational Nursery School, Caring Friends has been an important part of life in the nursing home. Our facility is home to special pets that provide comfort and companionship for our residents and their visitors. Residents’ families are encouraged to join their loved ones in recreational activities.

Admission to Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home is open to anyone who will benefit from our unique features and services. Nursing home services are eligible to applicants regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, handicap, sex, age, source of payment, marital status or sexual preference.
